Extra Credit Knots
Rope Terminology:
- Bend:
a method of joining two ropes. Examples: overhand bend figure 8 bend,
double overhand bend.
- Bight: the middle of a
line, or a loop made well away from the end of a line.
- Bitter End: The end of
a rope. Many of the knots described here involve passing the bitter end
through loops.
- Standing Part: the
main, non-working part of a line.
