Erosion and Deposition:

Evidence of erosion
Signs of erosion may often be seen
in a river. Look for one or more of these signs:
· Exposed tree roots.
· Cracks in the soil in a river bank.
· Clumps of grass in the river.
· The top part of the river bank overhangs.
· Brown or coloured water.
· Collapsed river bank.

The photo above shows six examples of erosion.
Types of deposition
There can be much evidence of deposition in a river. Some
examples are:
1. Areas of pebbles and stones.
2. Areas where mud and sand and silt have been deposited.
3. Large boulders and stones in the middle of a river.
4. Tree branches and trees in the river.
5. Pollution like cans, bottles, crisp wrappers and other rubbish.
