ASTRONOMY PROJECT

 

This is a student research project on an astronomy topic of your choice. (Each student must have their topic approved by me.)

 

You have four choices on how you present the information on your topic:

1. A research paper with a minimum of 750 words (size 12-14 type).
2. A PowerPoint presentation.
3. A “Travel Brochure” produced on Microsoft Publisher.
4. A student designed web page on the topic.

 

Either option must include a bibliography page and at least three different resources. The Internet must be a resource.

 

The report must include several graphic illustrations: pictures, drawings or diagrams, movies, graphs, etc.

 

Sample Project Topics:

1. Astronomical bodies: (planets, stars, asteroids, galaxies,.etc.)

2. Famous Astronomers: (Kepler, Galileo, Sagan)

3. Astronomical theories: Big Bang theory, closed vs. open universe, dark matter, extraterrestrial life.

4. Space Exploration: NASA, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle.

5. Student Generated Idea: Teacher approved.

Use the Earth Sciences Lecture Note Page or the Online resources page for other websites that may help you out with your project. You would do well by visiting the M server/Pauly Folder and looking at the PowerPoints on astonomy topics.
